Why We Should Not Eat Squid Excessively?

If you like consuming squid everyday, then you'll need to know about their truth.

First, the squid are not included in vertebrate animals. Generally, measuring 5.1 cm and a giant measuring more than 15 m. The squid are also various kinds, such as Ommastrephes Bartrami (flying squid) and Loligo Pealei.

Second, the squid that we often eat is
the kind of Loligo pealei scattered in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, East Asia, and along the east coast North America. In fact, the squid Loligo pealei or the usual type we eat, according to data from U.S. Commercial Fisheri, in 2008 already recorded about 8 million squid has been captured on the coast of California.

Third, consuming squid is delicious, besides meat chewy, also rich in nutrition. Nutrition contained in the squid, such as protein (17.9 g/100 g fresh squid), vitamin B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B12, niacin, folic acid and fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K), the important minerals that are good for the body such as sodium, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and selenium. Phosphorus and calcium are useful for bone growth, so it is important for child growth and prevent osteoporosis. In addition, the levels of fat in meat squid is relatively low, at 7.5 g/100 g of material, each comprising 1.9 g saturated fat, 2.7 g monounsaturated fatty acids, and 2.1 g fatty acids not polyunsaturated. Included in polyunsaturated fatty acids are omega-3 that can lower cholesterol content in blood.

Remember, the squid have cholesterol levels high enough, ie 260 mg/100 g of material. You should avoid excessive consumption of squid. Nevertheless the reasonable amount of cholesterol is needed by our bodies, both for cell growth (including brain cells) and the synthesis of sex hormones and vitamin D.

So, the squid is a healthy food because it contains many useful nutrients to the body, but excessive consumption is also not very good because they contain cholesterol. We recommend that you consume squid sufficiently!
